Employee is in her 3rd week of working as a temporary letter carrier. She was delivering route a section on route 123. This was her 3rd time delivering this section so could/should be aware of any potential hazards. At the house where she slipped it was part of a park and loop delivery so she was wearing her CPC satchel. She stated she had just finished delivering to the POC and was coming back down the driveway, which has a slight slope to it. Walking down, she suddenly slipped, jerking backwards and then falling onto her butt and falling onto her left ankle as her leg bent under her. She suffered a scrape to her left knee, top of her left foot and her right hand, from taking the fall. She stated, “after I sat myself back up and gathered myself, I carried on delivering for a few more houses. ” She stated at the end of the road she saw a customer who helped her clean up the wound and provided some bandaids..At that time she attempted to call the depot, which she said she wasn’t able to get a hold of anyone. She finished her route and reported the incident to the end of day supervisor. An investigation was done with LJOSH. The driveways, in that cul-de-sac, are predominately made of the aggregate type, including the house where she slipped. The driveway does have a good slope to it. No other issues with the driveway, no cracks or bumps or damages. It’s in great shape. There is a metal grate on the lower part of the driveway, but when asked if she slipped on that, she stated no.
