IOD – Falling IDC – Sept 21st

Jackie Coventry helped an MSC with loading IDCs. In the area of bay 2, Jackie, with her right hand, pulled a pair of nested IDCs from the many that are staged there. She pulled the IDCs back, steering them to left & they began to fall towards her. Using only her left hand, Jackie lowered the IDCs to the ground; the weight of steadying IDCs caused a twist to her left shoulder. As the IDCs continued to lower, the IDCs hit the top of Jackie’s upper hip. At 14:00, Jackie reported the event to Supv Kevin Reimer & she had indicated no need for 1st aid & continued to work on the floor. Supv Marc Thompson was updated on the events & followed up with Jackie who said she feels a small degree of pain in her left shoulder & the pain in her left hip was gone. She feels no need for first aid or medical no need for 1st aid or medical aid & was fine to continue working. Marc had asked what Jackie would have done differently. She said she would pull bakc IDCs straight and assess stability. Marc recommended stepping away to let them fall & immediate reporting
